If you think a pair of top 25 rankings are a reflection of relevance? If you are
Going to use polls, might as well look at the all-time AP poll tip 100 since that will tell you what programs are really "relevant".
BYU comes in at 34
Utah is 63
Duquesne and Iowa Pre-Flight came in tied for 99. Notably, USU didn't make the top 100.
My point? Trying to substantiate relevance based on 2 top 25 finishes in the last 57 years is not very substantable. Sure it's one metric. But so is attendance. So is television viewership. So is merchandise sales. So is how other present conferences regard your program (one as a P5, the other as a G5).

I don't think he was declining. There was a natural adjustment to our W-L record due to increased P5 scheduling
