I think this kind of proves the point. None of those programs are powerhouses in football other than Oklahoma. However,
Oklahoma was a powerhouse from way back in the day and gets their recruits from all over the country. Oklahoma State only recently has any kind of name but will never be a powerhouse.

Here is the point: If the Pac-12 wants another mediocre team who can't compete with the big boys. Utah was the good pick. It can become an Arizona St. or Arizona. Once in a while, they can compete with the big boys. However, if the Pac-12 wanted a team who was going to get people in the stands. A team which could recruit nationally and could compete, they should have taken BYU.

All comparisons of two P-5 programs in a small state mean both programs struggle. Oklahoma excluded because Oklahoma has a national platform for 50 years. It can recruit anywhere because of its name.

If you look at each state you gave me, both teams are mediocre.
