The previous trend was somewhat fabricated.
They sell a lot of tickets for how few people show up and someone deserves a lot of credit for that. I have had tickets there for years and been able to make a killing scalping them because of the waiting list. Over the years attendance and crowd noise have rarely been impressive. It was great during the end of the MWC era and a couple of the first big Pac 12 home games. Other than that its not what it used to be.

At the beginning of this season utes on here were talking about how hot it was on a Saturday morning as the reasons the crowd looked sparse. Now its too late at night and in the cold. Fact is, their fan base is largely uninterested in actual football and go for the experience. For some reason that experience is not what it used to be at all. The crowd is very average when anyone not named BYU is in town. I really don't know why but USC, UCLA, Arizona, ASU do not produce the same environment that BYU, TCU, or even Air Force did. Utes always deny this but I have been there and seen it first hand. Their stadium ain't that special anymore and LES was much louder on multiple occasions this season.
