I’ve seen the empty seats firsthand last season. But if what you say is correct and they’re all out in the tailgate lot instead of coming into the game then it actually is exactly the problem I’m describing and they aren’t actually fans of the school and the team they’re actually fans of going to a giant party and getting plastered and that is their motivation to be at the tailgate lot rather than being true and actual fans.

I get fans not wanting to go freeze at a late season game and instead watch it on tv, I get fans not wanting to go on a Thursday night when they have to get up and go to work in the morning, I get that people can be true fans and choose not to attend a game or two for various reasons, but isn’t it strange that it is happening during their most successful season since joining the pac12 and while they’re in the running to make the playoffs?
