Rate my professors is your friend in this regard.
I was a nut and took a way more religion classes than was required. As long as you shop around and choose very carefully, you can have fabulous classes.
Honestly, as long as you choose carefully, religion classes are the best part of BYU. Survey of Judaism and Islam were incredible and I went through the entire standard works, including the Old Testament. Sometimes that rigorous study with a professor fluent in Greek and Hebrew can open a dimension of the scriptures you didn’t know was there before.
