Yes but in all your examples you assumed two things

1) the backup has a better chance of winning. I’d agree with you about Hawaii but not the other games.

2) Think about Mangum vs Wisconsin and Taysom vs UCLA. Both QBs were learning a new system. Mangum probably needed the reps to beat Wisconsin the next week and Taysom probably needed the reps to get close to beating WVU the next week
