So, we get to keep football independence, but have a quasi-affiliation for some AAC scheduling...and perhaps a formal affiliation with some better bowls (like AAC+BYU gets the Los Angeles Bowl versus PAC, Armed Forces Bowl versus Army or Big 12, First Responder versus B1G, and Liberty Bowl with B12/SEC).
And, we get to be part of a national conference with the likes of Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston, and Wichita State, that has a strong western group (BYU, Zags, Boise, SDSU) that helps contain travel costs.
