Let's be honest, the Boise State game surprised everyone. We reworked our offense and took advantage of Baylor's skills (which I'm very impressed with) and took advantage of big turnovers and three big scoring plays in the second half: A long breakaway Finau TD run, a 4th down misdirection pop pass play to Bushman that went for a long TD (which we hadn't run that season), a double reverse flea flicker for a long touchdown. After that, we couldn't do squat and hung on for dear life, winning a squeaker.
Utah State was bad and defeated. Baylor was really efficient and took it home for us. Then we hung on to a small lead to beat Liberty. None of these teams had even close to the talent of Tennessee or USC, BYU's marquee wins of 2019. Romney never faced that level of size, speed, strength or athleticism.
