This is really the point...
so many people seem to want to get ahead of things instead of focusing on the current situation. Right now Zach is a college QB with obvious physical talent. The one and only thing he, or really anyone, should be concerned about at this point is him becoming a quality D1 QB. That's it. Other than just abstract "that would be cool" thoughts there is no reason to think about the NFL and Zach at this point.

Having a son who is a college QB myself I have a little bit of insight on this. Like Zach my son was superior to almost all the other kids athletically from a very young age. I read a newspaper story a few months back about Zach and his dad was saying how ever since he was a kid people had been telling him how he was going to be in the NFL. Well I had people say the same thing to me about my son but I never, not one single time, every told my son that and never let anyone tell him that either. When he was in youth sports our one and only focus was on making him into the best player, at all of the sports he played, that he could be at that point. We weren't even thinking about him starting in HS until he was probably in 7th grade and then started to try and get him ready to compete to start there.

But we didn't even give college a thought other than just as a "that would be cool" line of thought. Once he was obviously the best QB and pitcher around is when we started to think about one level higher, that's it. There is no reason to try and focus on the next level up until you're at the top of the level you are currently on. So until he was at the top of the HS players in this state we didn't even think about college possibilities because they were meaningless if he wasn't great in HS.

And now that he is in college we are completely focused on college, the NFL is no more than a "that would be cool" abstract thought at this point. Now once he can start in college, and we see how he performs there, then we can start thinking about the next level but until then we don't spend any time at all thinking about it, he's got to be great at the college level first.

And that is how it needs to be with Zach. Until he is great at the college level then the NFL isn't even a real possibility and hopefully he isn't thinking about it, he needs to just focus on keeping the starting job at BYU, the NFL shouldn't even cross his mind at this point.

I get that fans and radio guys are going to speculate and play that game but hopefully Zach isn't doing it. Right now he has far bigger concerns.
