I was elk hunting when I was about 16. My dad and I were standing in an open
field watching an elk herd run right toward us. There were some other hunters standing on the opposite side of the field, about 1/2 mile away. When the herd ran through it ran right between us and the other hunters. The other hunters started shooting and I felt a bullet whiz past my waist and hit a large sage brush right behind me. Missed me by mere inches. Three more bullets came within 10 feet of me. I dove down to the ground after the first one.

They had to have seen us with our orange on, but they threw caution to the wind and just started shooting.
