AF_Puma Walk-on
I was 13-years-old and visiting my aunt in West Lafayette, IN

I went to go get pizza with her best friend and 13-year-old son.  I was in the front passenger seat.  It was night and we had to cross a double lane highway.  The woman driving was in early 30's, but had just learned to drive.  It was a very busy highway and she thought it was clear to go into the middle area between the two double lanes to wait then for traffic to clear to make a left turn into that lane.  We were traveling in a small Volkswagen Beetle.  She didn't stop in the middle between the two lanes, but because she didn't see real well, she was stopped in the middle of the first lane of traffic.  We were T-boned by a car traveling at 65 mph (the police officer told me afterwards because the speedometer was stuck at that speed after the collision (this was 1971)).

None of the 3 other individuals were killed, but they were all massively injured.  It seemed like a dream.  I remember the car turning almost on it's side and then coming back down again.  When it stopped, the boy in the back seat started screaming.  The woman driving the car was laying partially on me as the car that hit us had cut halfway through our car.  One of her injuries was that the accident had cut off her ear and blood was everywhere.  I opened my door and jumped out without so much as a scratch.  I remember vividly, all the other car's headlights were shining on me as I stood there in the middle of those two lanes of traffic.  Frightened, I took off running the mile it took me to get back to my aunt's house.

It happened five years before I joined the Church of JS of LDS and soon after left on a mission.  I think someone was protecting me that night.
