But that doesn't mean that they haven't considered what data is available to them in the decisions they've made.

They've got people who know a lot more about this stuff than 99.9% of CougarBoard keeping them updated on models and what is expected based on what they know at the time. Which doesn't mean those models are 100% accurate or that they aren't changing as more data is added to the current base they started with.

But to say that NO data is being used is ridiculous.

I think we have to remember that they're typically speaking to the lowest common denominator. They aren't going to give us ALL the information/data that they have due to trying to limit the length of any press conference and recognizing that the vast majority has no idea how to interpret whatever data they'd provide anyway. Plus - as they get more data and things change, suddenly they're called liars or worse.
