Absolutely, we should be ready to handle a once in a 100 years illness.
That means it is going to happen once in our lifetime, maybe twice. This isn't a once a millennium illness, like the plague.
It's like when New Orleans built dikes to handle a once in a hundred year flood. Why was anyone surprised when it broke. They should know that once in our lifeit won't cut it.
Scandinavia builds their dikes to handle a once a millennium flood. Our healthcare system should be prepared accordingly.
