Fair enough. Vetting needs to be done. But now may not be the best time
if most of the doctors are having success with using it as treatment. They certainly aren't going to stop and wait until we get a study done. In the future, if/when this thing comes back again, we'll probably have much better data to better understand the risks of prescribing it for this purpose.

My aunt had a minor illness and was prescribed Chloramphenicol which killed her. Other children were also killed.

Safe use is surely important. Some risks are set aside when time is of the essence, which many have felt was the case.
