The numbers of people even below an IQ of 85 is significant as well.
We are talking ~50 million people in the US. While the experiences of someone with that level of IQ will differ, it is likely that the solution to just get more education or find something that values their skills more is not very realistic.

These are people that likely struggled through school, found a decent blue collar job, and are now seeing those jobs disappear while they are still prime working age. I worry about those people and realize that with the continued automation wave these people are going to be hit hardest.

I found the first response eye opening and again makes me concerned for those who will lose jobs and struggle in an increasingly more difficult knowledge economy.
