Montana Outdoors magazine recently published a great article on catch & release
Didn’t go into the ethics of it, but did say that C&R has had some unintended consequences (too many medium-sized fish in some streams, for example), and that lots of released fish die, especially in late summer when the water is warmer.

The gist was that catch & release is good, but that keeping (harvesting) some fish can also be a good thing.
