The death rate won’t be anywhere near 1%. Even the CDC states this. Too many people are asymptomatic. Not to mention the crazy way they are counting positive tests. It’s become way too political. People are more concerned with increasing numbers when what really matters is the % increase. It’s relatively flat and has been for a while. I find it odd you don’t realize this as you appear to follow it closely.
Covid is causing more deaths than the flu. That’s true. Let’s assume it’s 2-3 times more deadly. Will a vaccine dramatically alter that? How many lives does the flu vaccine save? I don’t know we have those answers. People are still dying from the flu (even with a vaccine) since they have to try and predict each year what to vaccinate for.
My point is ruining everyone’s lives by shutting things down, taking away freedoms, etc. is way worse than finding a way to protect those that are high risk. I know you will disagree with that and that is fine.
Now that we’ve done this once, it will happen again for another issue. It’s just a matter of time.
Wear masks, play football and watch the games on TV if you are high risk. There is a reason the State of Utah is allowing 960 people and 480 people respectively to watch live plays at Hale Theatre in Sandy if all of the guests wear masks.
