Personally, if it was pot, I'd try to ride it out, like I'd do with alcohol consumption, which is almost certainly more dangerous than pot. Not that I'd encourage it--I think any parent would be upset to see their kid drinking or smoking weed--but set expectations in other behaviors around school, etc.

If we're talking hard drugs, then that's an entirely different matter.
