Tested him quite a bit from 16-17. He failed breathalyzer a few times, although the barf have his intoxication away. It was a crazy night for us when we first busted him and figured out all the crap he was doing.
He busted for pot and nicotine several times.
We did it so he knew we were watching. Kept him focused on future and grades and soccer. I think the key was we just tried to love him and hard as it could be. Lots of sleepless nights.
He’s grown up quite a bit now in college. He’s 21 so he can kind of do what he wants. Seems like he’s on good footing.
Most kids grow up and don’t have an addiction but we were really frank with him about the potential that he could become a slave to alcohol or whatever else he tries.
