Since 2007, BYU has 8 NCAA tourney trips. We have been overseeded once, “correct” seed 4 times, and underseeded 3 times.
Using Bracket Matrix as an objective proxy for what was the reasonable expectation for NCAA tournament seeding.

In 2003, BYU had an RPI of 19, a Kenpom of 24 and got a 12 seed, against a UConn team that had an RPI of 28 & Kenpom 22
