Lot of people will key in on only one metric (like RPI) and assume there is a
direct seeding link due to correlation (not causation) and then think BYU is getting jobbed. Many factors are considered. BYU was 9 in NET last year but doesn't mean they "deserved" or would be "underseeded" if they didn't get a 3 seed

Since 2007, BYU has 8 NCAA tourney trips. We have been overseeded once, “correct” seed 4 times, and underseeded 3 times.

In 2003, BYU had an RPI of 19, a Kenpom of 24 and got a 12 seed, against a UConn team that had an RPI of 28 & Kenpom 22
