BYU was going to be a 5-6 seed last year despite being #9 in NET, and #13 in Kenpom not because the committee wanted to underseed them, but because they were 3-5 in Q1 games and 5-3 in Q2 games. Other teams ahead of them had better records in those quadrants.
Two years ago, Iowa st was ranked 15 in KenPom, got a 6 seed, Wofford was ranked 18, got a 7 seed, Texas ranked 25, was not selected.
