get that, I'm not sure I can help you. As I said previously, they're pretty good for the top 30 teams or so and garbage after that. Partially because college recruiting sites are generally great at identifying 4 and 5 star talent and not so great with anything below. A single 4 or 5 star guy can move you up + or - 20 spots when you're further down the rankings. That's nonsensical. Rarely is a single player that important to a class in reality, but it is in recruiting rankings.
Issues like this make it near impossible to get an accurate ranking outside the teams that clearly recruit super well.
Team rankings also don't take into account your ability to recruit depth, to recruit fits for your school and your system, to recruit for all positions (e.g., not just linebackers), to identify under recruited guys, etc. A coaching staffs ability to find the right guys for their program (especially a program like BYU) and not neglect positions is so important and not considered in anyway by a recruiting site team ranking.
At some point, when I have some time, I'm going to do a side by side of rosters going back to the early 2000's rosters compared to now and you will see the difference in depth and talent. It's amazing BYU's been able to beat Texas, Wisconsin, USC, Tennessee, Nebraska, Mich. St., Miss. St., Ole Miss, Ga Tech, Washington St., Oregon St., Arizona, Cal, Virginia, etc. all during independence when their recruiting has apparently tanked since leaving the mighty MWC. Also pretty incredible to have 5 draft picks and 5 or so more picked up as UDFAs in a single season when the recruiting is so bad. Yours is just a tired, lazy, easy narrative based on bad data.
