Watch the 100M finals from trials this year and I found something interesting...
Gatlin pulled a muscle mid-race and had to slow down to the finish line. Keep in mind he is also 39 years old.
He still came in .01 behind the top female sprinter's time, and well behind the rest of the men.
Consider that, a 39 year old man with a pulled muscle would have placed second in the women's 100m final.
