I could see Holmoe choosing either option, both for very good reasons.
BYU v. Notre Dame in Vegas would be a fantastic showing.
I would love to have a Neutral site game every year with Notre Dame.

Compelling reason: play in 2022 or play in 2042
Greg Kite's 'stache

exactly, although 2042 seems premature.

This is exactly the reason

But why is Vegas acceptable for ND in 2022 but Provo is not?

Significantly larger payday for ND in Vegas, more interesting trip for fans, etc
Greg Kite's 'stache

In summary: there isn’t a single reason ND would prefer to play in Provo over LV

Well, except for the contract.

Contracts are always up for negotiation

Not sure you’ve disagreed with what I said, but sounds great.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but I think you have a very fixed view of a "contract"

I was just flippantly responding to your statement that “there isn’t a single reason” for ND to play in Provo.

Now you are just looking for things to complain about.

If this is all true, and TH chooses neutral, he’s back to being dead to me

And why would you take at face value what one side of the negotiating table puts out in public?

What if Neutral means 2022 and Home means 2035?

Then…I’ll walk back what I said. And also retain that ND are blowhards

The problem is, just like every other issue fans like to complain about, is

or what if neutral means a high-profile game in a place like Vegas, Glendale, or Jerry World?

We're not the Globetrotters. A game in Provo > dime a dozen "destination" games

Great venues for fan access and exposure, the stated goals of independence.

A national spotlight game in a huge venue against ND is the opposite of a dime-a-dozen destination game. That is a once
SingleStrapBackpack

That's the thing, though. Texas don't give a rip about where that game is held

BYU could have a legit showing. This would not be a high interest game for ND fans.

The when is my guess. If BYU wants it sooner, then Neutral. If BYU is willing to wait 20 years, they'll get that home gm

We have a great fan showing in Vegas. I think it’s a win if we play ND in Vegas

One reason to play it in Vegas would be to sell the TV rights for a lot more $

I really want that Provo game, but if I knew they took the Las Vegas location for a huge pay day game, then cool.
Turnpike Lane

Yes, money could be a compelling reason. I also wonder what winning the game

If its in Vegas it better be more like 80/20 since it was supposed to be Provo

But, but, but, I'm offended it's not in Provo. Notre Dame are a bunch crooks

Even if we play them in Vegas and BYU gets more money for doing it, they are still crooks.
