This isn’t entirely the full story. Athletics has to cut checks to the various colleges. BYU’s tuition is dirt cheap
Because it’s subsidized by tithing. Athletics has way smaller checks to pay for the scholarships because of massive subsidization from tithing.
These other schools have to pay way larger amounts to their various programs for those athletic scholarships because tuition at the school isn’t being subsidized by something.
