Meh...outside of maybe 10-12 programs at most, every school - P5 or not — has a ceiling. Nobody
In their right mind expects small, non traditional, lower tier schools like Utah to compete with the blue blood programs.

It’s never going to happen. So if the elite of the pac-12 split off and join a super conference, all that does is widen a gap that should already be wide open.

BYU fans may be the only fans in the country who think it’s mock worthy that Utah doesn’t beat USC and Oregon and win their championship every year.

No lower tier school in any power 5 is winning their conference — Or even has that expectation.

So no, I don’t think it matters that the big schools leave. Yes, it hurts Utah. But only Because the status quo is fantastic. Utah is one of the few programs that has consistently pushed their ceiling higher.

if anything though, it makes Utah’s path to a 12- team playoff much easier. And that should be the clear expectation going forward if the pac 12 were to dissolve.

Utah rarely loses to schools consistently that don’t have a substantial advantage over them.
