much more social awareness and "political savvy" who possessed a clearly high intellect understood very well that if he was going to ever start for BYU, he wasn't going to win the QB battle through his superior passing ability. Jake would pass circles around him all day long. He wasn't going to win that way. However, having been around and having more experience, he understood that his best bet was to win the social and political battle. He's a competitor. He wants to play and wants to win. I think he knew what he was doing, and Jake simply had no answer for that. I think it's entirely possible that he felt like Riley was kind of stealing the show during practice and felt like he could develop further and make more efficient use of time by utilizing a trainer. Again, horrible social and political move, but then again, it's obvious Jake was clueless and Riley took full advantage of that.
