The BYU hate started long before UM, but he perfected it. Whitt has carried the

torch. The streak gave uu fans fodder to keep it going on a more personal level.

Like I wrote earlier, uu fans have been vocal against BYU for a long time (especially in the SL valley). The recent success of uu and Bronco's inadvertent actions/conversation that made BYU 'uncool' made it easier to be a uu fan. uu getting into the PAC didn't hurt them either.
