That is what "on the edge" means, you will get burned a little. Is the data you are referencing just late hits? All penalties? There is a difference in a false start and a late hit. Some facemask penalties are incidental, some (like the UVA guy or ASU on our backs) are very intentional.. Some targeting is dirty and some should not have been called targeting. I am not saying he teaches the players to be dirty, but encouraging them to push the limits will result in some dirty plays. I do not think we were dirtier than Utah, but 37th is also not the super-disciplined side of things. I said it was overblown, but it was not a completely false narrative either (even if some of those calling the kettle black were worse, especially Utah). Also one of their players before said Vegas bowl explicitly said "y'all are a dirty team." I also see you thumbs-upped it so we are probably pretty close to being on the same page here.
