Send photos of the eye, call the professors, some may be jerks, but others have
probably heard so many excuses over the years...
Sometimes taking a step back with a fresh start can re-open a door that appears to be closed. That said, I'd happily fail all my classes if it would save my eyesight in one eye. He shouldn't have to choose though.
