Disparity will always happen when you don't play everyone. It doesn't cause a
problem in basketball. You use the previous three seasons results and I think most of the time you will see balanced schedules

No divisions
Charles Darwin
1/18/22 11:03am
Sorry, but a 12-14 team league with no divisions is laughable
Indy Coug

Worked out well for the ACC at 15 teams
Charles Darwin
1/18/22 11:07am
They have separate divisions for football
Indy Coug
1/18/22 11:08am
Not when they had 15 teams
Charles Darwin

You mean the bizarro COVID season? You throw the anomaly out
Indy Coug
1/18/22 11:10am
In fairness, it also worked for them having teams play different # of conference games, don't think that's good longterm

Did the NCAA change the rules, or was that just for the Covid season
Nat Gas Man

The AAC did it this year again
Charles Darwin
1/18/22 11:23am
...except the ACC definitely had divisions this year
krindorr
1/18/22 11:27am
I never said the ACC didnt have divisions this year
Charles Darwin
1/18/22 11:28am
Sorry, misread. But NCAA rules are divisions for conferences with 12+ teams. AAC only has 11 since UConn left
krindorr
1/18/22 11:34am
The rules also said it had to be round robin
Charles Darwin
1/18/22 11:36am
Yea seems like the AAC straight up ignored the NCAA by-laws

Got a waiver, in the past decade conferences have got what they wanted

Option 4 is clearly the best option for everyone and the best for the league

4 makes the most sense to me. In a conference that is so spread out

Except, in a conference that is so spread out, it's important to keep rivals
Doogal McCougar

Option 4 the best but Iowa State won't like it

And then moving Oklahoma St to the 6 when Texas/Oklahoma leave?
krindorr
1/18/22 11:16am
I like the idea of 4 3-team pods. Each season, you play all teams in your pod, then rotate two other pods each season.

So taking a shot at the execution of this and expanding it
krindorr
1/18/22 11:26am
Interesting idea, though I think I'd prefer an 8-game conference schedule so we can have 4 OOC games.
durandal
1/18/22 11:29am
Conferences seem to prefer 9 conference games for more inventory, gets a bigger TV deal
krindorr
1/18/22 11:37am
Seemed to be tied to inventory for their conference network
Charles Darwin
1/18/22 11:39am
I wouldn't be too surprised to see 10 conference games with new contracts after
Nat Gas Man

I'd love a 6 conf game schedule for more interesting OOC matchups.

Love your 9th game idea

Here's the other cool thing about this setup - you play everywhere pretty frequently
krindorr
1/18/22 12:30pm
Switch TCU and Ok State?
Zoobieman
1/18/22 2:25pm
Wouldn't swap Oklahoma St and TCU for a few reasons
krindorr
1/18/22 3:01pm
Love it, I would only change the rotation to every two years.

Agreed - those last few weeks would generate a TON of excitement (and just as importantly) viewers
krindorr

Any of the pod proposals are SO much better than the division idea.

If the goal is for BYU to play in conference championship games option 2 is best

As the poll suggests, if you have to do divisions, Opt4 is clearly and obviously
