I agree. I think we're saying the same thing. The CFB likes the idea that through history, recruiting, program

perception earn the right, over time, to participate in big games.

Their version of meritocracy is more program-specific not team-specific.

Even though 2004 Utah may have been a better team than say, 2022 Utah. 2022 Utah will have a higher margin of error and more opportunities because they've established themselves further as a brand.

It's not fair but it's the reality.
