I played there and grew up there. We know every player that went on to play D1 and Pro and we know a lot about their stories. They are local heroes to all the kids growing up. To most of the community Kahuku fandom trumps college and NFL fandom. Right or wrong, under recruiting a player like Lefau is a big mistake with that community and other players who will come out of there in the future. This is probably a top 150 program nation wide for putting guys in the NFL and D-1. 4 kids I played with played in the NFL and probably 10-15 went D-1. My post here is not actually about Kahuku as much as it is about understanding how important it is to build a positive perception in top football communities. We need to do better.
