A couple things
1) Don't expect BYU to ever compete well in terms of its brand in any sample that is not tailored to kids we recruit or the geographic hot beds from which we draw most of our athletes. We aren't going to be for everybody, and that certainly includes the majority of the best football players nationally

2) Is it just me, or do top-rated LDS recruits somewhat regularly claim underwhelming outreach from BYU (that lags behind their other suitors)? Or do capable talents, who would fit very well at BYU, describe being given the "we know you want us" impression...and again, we underdo it?

Also recall hearing from a family of a kid who is poised to play at another school that they hated their BYU visit. Less personal. Cattle call. Nepotism/inside baseball in who BYU prioritized....I wasn't there. Maybe they just don't like BYU. Maybe we can do better.

All that said, how hard is it to keep up with Jones with the very small handful of 4-star LDS recruits out there? Why should we ever hear of BYU not keeping pace, at the very least, with these kids? Why can't our on-campus recruiting events be first-in-class experiences for nearly everyone, the way our Pro-day is consistently described of late? It seems we have the capacity (and certainly the need) to shine here without having to be Alabama with our recruiting budget
