It was only my second year of wrestling, but I was really small, so I earned a JV slot my freshman year at 103 pounds. I remember we went to Granger High for a meet. I was the first one up. I was so excited that I had earned JV and was out there representing my school. I shook hands with my opponent, the ref blew the whistle, and the Granger wrestler proceeded to kick my butt and pin me at the end of the first period. I was so proud that I forced that kid to bring his A game and pin me. I may have lost, but I still won because of the performance that my opponent was forced to do in order to beat me. Greatest day of my life.
