You don’t get rid of whole life once you’ve already paid the front-end load fees
in the first few years. That’s where the pain is at. So while you’re right that he wouldn’t care now, it would be a financially illiterate thing to do now.

Sure, it required that I pay more for the same investment, but it hardly put my financial retirement “at risk.” I definitely spent a solid $12k more in fees, I figure, but that is not making or breaking my retirement.
