What? What human being wouldn’t want a bit of financial help while getting started? Even if you could pay for your own college, you could then bank some of that money towards your first home or towards a business venture or start your own savings.

It’s fine to not pay for your kids, but don’t say they are happy they aren’t getting any help…even if that’s what they say.

When I was in high school, I was recruited to play football at several Ivy League schools. But when I crunched the numbers and realized what my parents had, I elected to attend a military academy instead. One of the top reasons was money. I told my parents over and over that I didn’t want their money and didn’t need it. But if they had excess and offered it, I gladly would have taken it.
