Right now the B1G is looking for a buyer for 4-8th best games and the leftovers will go to the B1G network. They're looking to get the networks/ESPN/Amazon to pay as much as possible. And they're doing a great job of it. Amazon was apparently willing to pay a lot for pick 2 or 3. I imagine the B1G will get a better price for game 4 with an extra four teams. It's pretty likely game 4 will often have playoff implications late in the season and that's all you need even for solid ratings even if the game is UW-USC or Wisconsin-Oregon which will often fall to pick number 4.
The take home here is that the SEC blew it in their negotiations.
