brands in the state. Yes Oregon will always have Nike, but at that point it is Nike not Oregon. That would be like a university dominated by Coca Cola and everything was Coke. The program would be flush and promoting a huge brand, but their own identity becomes lost among those living in the State. Basically if I am wearing a Nike T shirt or shoes while in Oregon, it has no connection to me being a Ducks fan.
Yes Oregon and Washington are big brands, but the unwanteds in those same states not only have sizeable fan bases, but are part of the football centric culture that exists in all of the Big XII. To me it is about getting these under the wing and build from there vs trying to have out the gate. This strategy has been used so many times in Professional sports and has almost always failed.
In ten years what would OSU and Wazzou look like in the Big XII? How much of the state would end up being more interested in these schools, or more correctly how much of the football loving population of the state would be following these schools vs those who already have been infected by a cultural and political disease out of California.
