Either way, it's speculative. They won on the field, so not fair to assume a different outcome in Provo. The problem is, to claim a championship they would have to assume beating Utah again or beating an Oregon team that just destroyed them.
Clearly, Utah hadn't found their offense after losing Ty until the 3-4 game. And BYU was well prepared early in the season but lacked the depth to finish strong...losing to UAB is awkward.
Just one of those things. THey have scoreboard. Unfair to assume Utah would win. But...to claim a championship, they leap to a similar logic that doesn't add up.
