I attended BYU and Columbia for undergrad. BYU was significantly harder.
I tell people at Columbia most didn’t care. They were there for a good time and realized they could go/do whatever they wanted either because of their connections or mainly because they were already in the Ivy pipeline.

BYU was 300 kids in your chemistry class that all looked just as nerdy as you, that had zero distractions (partying) and if anything had extra motivation to make it for their family or prospect of a family. It was significantly more competitive or difficult. The only way to stand out was class rank/grades and with most things that just comes down to how hard you’re willing to work.

I saw or interacted with very few kids at Columbia willing to do that.
