Sounds like an opinion from a guy who knows nothing about BYU
A lot of my family is from Chicago. Let me tell you something about Northwestern…nobody gives a flying rip about Northwestern football in Chicago. They have a 47,000 seat stadium now, and they have plans to build a new stadium that will only seat 35,000. Northwestern is like the 12th biggest ticket it town. Heck, there are probably more Wisconsin football fans in Chicago than Northwestern football fans. Notre Dame too.

My point is, a lot of people care a lot about BYU football. Look at CougarBoard for example. You think there’s a “WildcatBoard” or whatever their mascot is, that gets the traffic CougarBoard does?

When BYU had a bad offense, we fired our golden boy Heisman. When BYU had a bad defense, our coach fired his best friend. We don’t settle for “good enough” around here. It’s the type of people we are. Another example is when Utah got invited to the PAC-12. We’re so competitive that we said “oh no you didn’t” and scraped together whatever we could with ESPN and Independence because we couldn’t stand to be thought of as less than Utah as a team left behind in the MWC.

BYU Football could never be Northwestern. That’s a ridiculous comparison. We are PASSIONATE. We can’t even stand to lose Twitter polls. A better comparison in my mind would be Utah in the PAC-12. We’ll take a few years to get our footing, but give us a few years, and we’ll be competitive every year. Not once every 4-5 years. Every year.

Go Cougs.
