I know many on this board are really down on Pope this year, but I still think he’s a good coach that has a combo of drive and passion that’s hard to find. Especially with BYU’s limited coaching pool.

He’s swung and missed a few times on the recruiting/transfer trail. But he’s been at a disadvantage in the WCC that’s no longer there. Even being in the WCC he’s gotten highly sought after guys like Chandler, Haarms, Toolson, Williams, Robinson, and Lucas. Beat out the likes of Duke, Kentucky, UofA, UConn, SDSU, Texas Tech, and Xavier to name a few.

Lost Lohner after somehow getting him in the first place, but 99% of teams lose a starter level/rotation guy in college bball nowadays.

Really hope we can land Aly Khalifa and a starting caliber guard. Khalifa would do wonders for this team with his playmaking, shooting, and size. And if Ashworth enters the portal you’d think we’d be one of his top choices. Adding those 2 without losing any of our main 6 rotation guys would go a long way in making us competitive next year. Think we’d surprise some people
