Especially when it comes to medication, things like: you’re crazy if you need medication, or if you have faith you don’t need medication, or medication will turn you into a zombie. Medication can be incredibly beneficial and most depression medication is more of a boost than making you feel not like yourself.
Other things that I’ve found very helpful: getting your mind healthy (mindfulness, meditation, etc.), exercise, eating healthy, getting enough sleep. Letting go of guilt, I know many members of the church (if you are) deal with guilt/shame for even the littlest of things, find ways to let that go, it’s been incredibly helpful for me. I have not done formal therapy, but I’m not opposed to it, often it can be the most helpful thing. I’ve seen/read that success in Therapy has a ton to do with finding the right therapist for you, so make sure it’s a good fit. Please reach out to me if you ever need anything.
