My wife made some homemade vanilla. Apparently it is just two ingredients. Vodka and vanilla beans.
You let the beans sit in the vodka for several months.
We just used some to flavor some homemade vanilla ice cream. I’m not used to ice cream burning like that on the way down but oh well.

I make gallons of vanilla a year. I’ve never made something that burned when using homemade vanilla.

What did we do wrong? I am sure it isn’t supposed to be that strong. We didn’t even finish the ice cream.

Could have been a few things. Poor beans. Not enough beans. Didn’t let them age long enough. Didn’t shake them often.
