It's about 1c vodka per 6 beans. The beans should be sliced lengthwise when put into the vodka to expose the bean's interior and allowed to seep for at least two months.

Could have been a few things. Poor beans. Not enough beans. Didn’t let them age long enough. Didn’t shake them often.

To add, I usually do double fold and age at least 18 months. Shake at least weekly the first 6 months and then monthly.
