I did this…it took two years rather than a few months to really make the
vanilla correctly. I haven’t had any taste burning…perhaps too much extract was added?
If you look at ingredients of vanilla extract at the grocery store it will say 35% alcohol or so.

I make gallons of vanilla a year. I’ve never made something that burned when using homemade vanilla.

What did we do wrong? I am sure it isn’t supposed to be that strong. We didn’t even finish the ice cream.

Could have been a few things. Poor beans. Not enough beans. Didn’t let them age long enough. Didn’t shake them often.
