It's not primarily the long hours
It's how you hold peoples lives in your hands and how easily you can hurt them. It's the risks you take every day practicing on your own and the powerful and immediate impact you have on your patients. Some days I think I have a great job. Many days I think its not worth the paycheck. Every day I go to work with a little fear in the back of my mind and a tiny, ever present pit in my stomach.

Lots of people work hard and put in long hours. Few will take the risks you will.
