are restrictive in who and how many people they admit. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I think there's something wrong with medical schools being restrictive in who and how many people they admit. I'm just pointing out that it's an indisputable fact that there are more people who want to go to medical school than get admitted, thereby artificially limiting the supply of available doctors. Doctors make good money because there aren't many doctors in relation to demand for what they do, not because they go to school for a long time or work hard. If it were made easier to become a doctor (which I don't think it should be), more people would become doctors and salaries would be lower. Quality would also go down in the face of lesser-trained doctors.
